Happy Blogoversary to Me!
It's been 3 years since I started this blog and I can't believe it seems like yesterday. I started it to keep a record of my experiences and treatment when I was going through cancer. After I was finished with my treatments I didn't want it to be the focus of my blog anymore. I decided to continue to blog about my life in general but also about my many other passions which include knitting, crocheting, beading, jewelry design and all around crafting! So here I am! I am hoping to blog a bit more this year and hopefully I will be successful in this endeavor. LOL Wish me luck. Maybe the next post will have some Disney World vacation pics if I can actually get them into the computer. Its a busy week here because I am supposed to start my new job on Thursday. I am a little nervous and excited about it. Thats something else I can blog about! Yes! See you all soon!

Flora in Fall
OK, OK, I know I am being a very bad blogger but there are so many things going on right now, you have to cut me some slack. I do have a finished object to show off! I made this for my Mom's birthday last month and I just finished it a few days ago. The pattern is from FLORA from Knitty.com I used Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran held together with Rowan Kidsilk Night. The flower is Cashmerino Aran with a strand of Blue Moon Fiber Arts Silkie Socks that Rock in Tidepool. I want to make myself one of these in the future.
I also received my October Sock Kit from Woolgirl
How fabulous is that kit! I dont think any other sock club can top Jen at Woolgirl.com

I forgot to mention that my Mom completed the AVON WALK FOR BREAST CANCER the first week of October. I didnt get many pics worthy of posting but I brought my daughter down with me and my Dad to pick up my Mom. She raised a lot of money for a good cause. Next year I will walk the 40 miles with my Mom for the first time.
Weight Watchers is going great and I am down a total of 23 pounds!! (14.6 lbs on Weight Watchers and 8.4 lbs on my own before joining WW) I am only 1.4 lbs away from reaching my 10% weight loss goal. I am hoping that next week I will be there!
My sewing skills have been limited to practicing hemming my daughters pants. I bought some fabric to make her American Girl doll pajamas. I am hoping I can do that without getting frustrated to much! LOL
This past weekend we all went to Rhinebeck to attend the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival. The kids were so well behaved I was pleasantly surprised. My daughter, who completed her first scarflet for my Mom, (with a little help by me) was extremely excited to pick out some yarn of her very own. She certainly has great taste because she picked out Araucania Aysen which is 70% merino wool, 20% alpaca and 10% silk. Its perfect for her because it calls for a size 9 US needle and its 191 yards, enough for a scarf. Maybe she will make me one next? I also picked up the book by Melanie Falick on Kids Knitting to help her out a bit but I think I am going to get her a lesson at Knitting Central for her birthday. Even though I can teach her I think it would be better for her to have a formal lesson or two. The only thing I worry about is if there is enough room in this house for 2 yarn stashes??? Oh NO!
My Etsy shop has been picking up business! Yay! The holidays are right around the corner and I have lots of stuff to add to the store. Right now I have 61 items for sale so go on over and take a peek, you might find something you like!

It's My Blogoversary and I'll Cry if I Want Too!
OK, it's my 2 year anniversary of starting this blog and I am very happy about that. I added this neat countdown to my next blogoversary so I can NEVER forget. I always thought that it was spelled blogIversary but apparently I am wrong. The crying part has to do with today being my Dad's birthday and me not having his birthday socks finished! I have until tomorrow to finish them but I am going to try and get them done tonight. I have such a migraine that I can't see straight so I don't know how I am going to do it but I sure as hell am going to give it a try.
Two years have gone by in a flash and it seems like yesterday that I said to myself, self, lets start keeping a record of what's happening with you in a blog. I NEVER in a million years had any idea I would start a blog but looking back its one of the best things I could have done. Initially I started it to keep a record of what I was going through at the time. When I started it on March 8th, 2006 I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer 13 days earlier and a million crazy thoughts about a million things were running through my mind. A blog was the best place to put my story. While going through my surgeries and treatment I discovered the wonderful art of knitting and made the decision to change the name of my blog from "CurlyBrunette's Story of Survival" to "Knit Happens". It opened my eyes to the thousands of knitting and crafting blogs that are out there and to the wonderful people who write them.
I always say to people, I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have knitting in my life. It's very hard for the non-knitter to understand and I don't really expect them to understand it. It's a passion and a HUGE part of who I am and that's how I describe it. It's the best thing that cancer has ever brought to me.
My LYS-Knitting Central is offering 2 classes with one of my favorite sock designer/knitters, Charlene Schurch! The classes are in May and one is on sock design which from the description I think is more for the beginner sock knitter. The other class is on doing different heels and bringing sock design down into the heel instead of just doing your typical heel flap. If I were to pick a class it would be the heel one. I am contemplating whether or not to take them but I have to decide soon before the classes fill up!

The New Blogger, UGGHH!!! The Yarn Harlot, Yay!!!
I cant tell you how hard it was for me to log into my blogger account just now. I have been trying to access it for 45 minutes to an hour without any results until 5 minutes ago. Since it is the new version of blogger you need a Google account and I didnt have that nor did I switch my blog over to beta. Call me lazy or resistant to change but I was happy with what I had so I didnt change it. THEY decided to change it for me so there lies the problema. I am happy that its fixed and I can now post because I have awesome news!!
I am going to see the YARN HARLOT when she comes to The WEBS Store in Massachussetts!!! You can see all about it if you go to the WEBS site: www.yarn.com I am so excited about it I cant wait! Right now I am trying to see if anyone will go with me but since its in the middle of the week its hard for most people who would have to get off work to go. I will have to wait to get her book unless I bring my own copy for her to sign with me. I am anxious to read it but the bookstores around here dont seem to have it at the moment. After the talk she is giving at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center, WEBS is having the book signing in their store and all kinds of yarn sales! This is a great opportunity for me to get the yarn I need for the shawl class I am taking with Jane Elliot in June. Heck, you name it, WEBS has it. They are a MEGA yarn store so I am getting my list together. Do you think there will be some sock yarn on the list?? LOL
Next week I have my first class for the Baby Argyle Sock with Sally (Queen of Socks). I'm excited about it and hope I can adapt the pattern to an adults foot. I am almost ready to Kitchner one of the Dr's socks and I am finally on the leg of the Blue Moon Monsoon Socks. Right on time for the next shippment hopefully to arrive the end of the month. I am almost ready to turn the heel on the yellow socks.
Today is my Grandmothers birthday and I havent finished her gift yet. Since we are expecting a nor'Easter tomorrow we are not planning a party for her tomorrow. My Mom wants to do it next Sunday which happens to be my birthday. She wants to do it together. Well, maybe I am being selfish but I wanted a cake with just my name on it. I think I have earned it since the past birthdays have all sucked for reasons I dont have to go into. I think you all know what I am referring to. Back to my socks...
